100 Tage – viel gemacht – noch nichts erreicht

English version below

100 days – much done – nothing achieved yet

12.11.2022 The famous first 100 days have flown by. We have succeeded brilliantly in the first task of getting to know each other and finding each other as a team. We are a great mix of old and young, conventional and creative, reassuring and inspiring.

Presidium meetings take place online as a matter of course these days, so it’s easy to meet, discuss and plan at 8 p.m. during the week. It doesn’t matter whether you’re at home, on a business trip or on vacation. Everyone is on duty at all times and everyone plays their part to the full. Everyone has taken on their tasks and everyone has made their first very successful steps.

Markus and Chris have updated and cleaned up the website. An online data repository is completely set up. An newsletter is the other major innovation in this area (coming soon) and Markus is so full of ideas that we can look forward to a lot in the media area.

Laura has already clearly given structure to her sports committee, which has been inactive for years, and has received very strong support. Lothar Homburg for the seniors, Debbie Riedel for the women’s sports and Ralf Brandt as teaching director are already a great competence team on their own. Together with a spokesperson for active players (who will be co-opted at the next ranking tournament) and the state coach Hendrik Vössing the committee is almost complete. The first ranking tournament was already a great success and many will follow. However, we still urgently need 2-3 people who want to take up the popular sport.

The youth, the most stable mainstay of squash in NRW in recent years, continues to do extremely well. We just wish we had many more children. The often heard argument that he or she is not yet good enough is simply not true. Children like to play with and against other children and even a 12th or 17th place can be a success for some of them. We would like to see more courage from parents and coaches. The exchange of coaches is also very valuable. Just come by with your children.

Ralf has taken care of the European Junior Open 2023 very early (as VP Finance he knows how important this tournament is for us) and has already created the first facts. His mails often come from somewhere in the world where he is refereeing again, sometimes at absolutely ungodly hours, but that shows his motivation and heart for the cause. Today we meet with Rainer Weitz, the new operator of the ACR, to create the best basis for a tournament with over 500 participants.

The first squash-center operator meeting has taken place and we consider it a complete success. Last weeks we asked the members to waive the membership fees for squash-centers. We then want to register as many squash-centers as possible (free of charge) as a member squash-center and ensure that as many as possible are evenly provided with tournaments and events. This will take place in regular allocation meetings, in which everyone can then also participate. We will discuss the further procedure at the next squash-center operator meeting on 14.12.2022 in Duisburg.

And we continue to strive for many small and large pieces of the mosaic to move us forward. We have already felt great solidarity, but we need much more. Some people still sit together after practice waiting to see what else we can come up with. But we alone cannot make the sport of squash great in NRW. We need all of you. We need your solidarity, your enthusiasm and love for the sport, your help. Every impulse is gladly accepted. Just get in touch. We are looking forward to many more 100 days for you.
